Dan Koldyk (Can)

Dan, who first played in Beijing in 1996, made his name by intimidating teammates, such as Tom Cumming, on-ice and for his remarkably mature behaviour off-ice. He went from being a legend in his own mind to a legend of local hockey by being the second player in history to win the prestigious Larry Finkle award (the first being Big Ray Plummer) for his heroics at the Ulaan Baatar Cup. Exactly how he won the award has never been fully reported, but it involved a pulled groin, a goal against and pay-per-view movies.

In 2004, Dan decided to dodge early mornings, professional life and responsibility by going back to school, again. This time he is studying at Oxford University. Dan can be reached at: daniel_koldyk@hotmail.com
